LIGHTLESS, Nàire, Glare of the Sun
LIGHTLESS:
Coming from its initial state as a solo project of
Christian, Lightless became a band based in
Dresden, Germany, in late 2021. Their music
offers a unique blend between Doom and Black
Metal, with noticeable influences by Sludge and
Post Metal. Songwriting is typically elaborated
during regular jam sessions. Hereby, the timbre
discontinuously meanders between harsh/rude
and heavy/slow sections, with the addition of
atmosphere through clean and drone parts
creating vast landscapes of melancholy. The
lyrics reflect impressions of both every-day life
and overall societal issues. We live in a world
about to die sooner than later: conflicts, wars,
extremist political perspectives, corruption,
bullshit,lifestyle, climate change,
contamination, destruction of habitats - this list
is a shear endless one. Many countries are at the
brink of destabilization. Facts are widely
ignored, and freedom of speech is abused, with
stakeholders and even scientist showing
tendencies of mass manipulation. Lightless
primarily addresses these conflicts and the risk
of a desolated earth linked to it.Shortly after consolidating the first songs, a
couple of first shows followed in 2022. Given
positive resonances, the session EP “Descent to
insignificance” was released in August 2022.
With this release, Lightless were able to gain
recognition in the local scene and could raise
further opportunities for live shows. A two-digit
number of shows followed in 2023 and 2024,
sharing the stage partially with well-known
(inter)national acts. This provided additional
recognition beyond the borders of their home
federal state. In winter 2024/25 recordings for
“A foreseen loss” were carried out at the band’s
rehearsal place. This debut full-length album
was then released on April 30, 2025, and
subsequently promoted during a three-day tour
through the Czech Republic. Subsequently other
concerts in Germany followed, including three
festival attendances (In Flammen Open Air,
Knispival Festival, Sundrowner Fest), a tour
supporting Pantheist (UK), and single shows in
six different countries of western Europe.
Recently, the songwriting phase for the next
release has begun.

Addressing men's exploitation of the earth, its resources and each other,
Nàire's sound leaves you with a feeling of hopelessness wrath and anguish.
GLARE OF THE SUN:
Glare of the Sun ist eine deutsch-österreichische Post- und Doom-Metal-Band, die 2013 gegründet wurde.
Ihr Stil bewegt sich zwischen Death Doom, Post-Metal, Shoegaze und progressiven Einflüssen und ist
für atmosphärische Klanglandschaften sowie den Wechsel zwischen schweren, düsteren und melodisch-
verträumten Passagen bekannt.
Die Band entstand im oberbayerischen Traunwalchen bei Traunreut. Seit etwa 2015 besteht die Besetzung
aus Christoph Stopper (Gesang), Gerald Huber (Gitarre, Gesang), Martin Baumann (Gitarre), Tobias Schwab
(Bass) und Franz Ebert (Schlagzeug).
2017 veröffentlichte die Band ihr Debütalbum Soil, aufgenommen im Studio von Martin Schirenc und
gemastert von Dan Swanö, das sie in der europäischen Doom- und Post-Metal-Szene etablierte. 2019
folgte das experimentellere Album Theia, dessen Songtitel aus fortlaufenden römischen Zahlen bestehen.
Im September 2024 erschien mit Tal über Lifeforce Records das dritte Studioalbum, das orchestrale
Elemente mit schweren Gitarren verbindet und die Klangpalette der Band erweitert.
Heute gilt Glare of the Sun als Teil der modernen europäischen Post-/Doom-Metal-Szene und ist besonders
für atmosphärische, emotional intensive Kompositionen bekannt.
